This vase exhibits one of the most astounding "drippy" looking purple blue streak patters I have ever seen in a flambe piece. It is set against a rich red glaze that drains away beautifully from the rim, leaving a variegated white or offwhite glaze at the top. Glaze crackle is visible upon close inspection, just as it should be on a vase of this type (especially look at the images of the rim). 15.75 inches (40cm) in height x approximately 9.75 inches (24.77cm) at its widest point. Top rim is approximately 4 inches (10.2cm) in diameter. The base rim is approximately 5 7/8 inches (14.92cm) in diameter. The vase weighs about 8.9 pounds (4.05kg)! Condition: NOW FOR THE BAD. The vase would be a nice decorative cabinet piece, but it could use restoration. It has been amateurishly drilled for use as a lamp and, in the process, the person who drilled it caused a crack which runs from the drilled hole part of the way up each side of the vase. The crack, when viewed on the sides, is a fairly tight hairline so it does not detract from the aesthetics of the vase as it is normally viewed. Under a loupe it looks like the crack travels about 9 inches up the side of the vase to just below the single ring on the to of the body; and on the other side it is about 7 inches. Otherwise, the vase has expected glaze crackle and a few scattered small glaze pops throughout visible upon close inspection.Ships at 16pounds via UPS Ground - insured.
